Jessica Fong

Born in Hong Kong. Lived in Vancouver, Hong Kong, Shanghai and now studying in Paris. I am fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, English and conversational French. I'm in my last year of university, double-majoring in Business Administration and Global Communications. At the same time, I'm working as a researcher in an architect firm. When I was in high school in Shanghai, I co-founded the Habitat for Humanity Club in my school (Shanghai American School-Pudong Campus) and I went on the first Habitat trip in the Guangdong province in China. I’ve wanted to get back on another Habitat trip but it never worked out until this trip that fits perfectly in my spring break holiday.
My passions are traveling, bikrim yoga, fashion design, art, architecture, golf, exotic cuisines and experiencing different cultures. I've always wanted to travel to South America and finally, I have the opportunity to. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Yunkyung Lee

Hello, I’m Yunkyung from Gwangju, very south and western part of Korea,
2012 is my fifth year in Latin America, Bolivia is my fifth country here and Habitat is my first.
I am staying in Honduras, I came here because I love Spanish and Latin culture so I studied Spanish and Latin America language & literature in collage.
I wanted to find a job here to live in Latin territory after graduation and I made it, so lucky! Recently I quit my fourth year job to study in Argentina and find something to do the rest of my life.

I love travel, read and writing, learning language, going museum, animal, all kind of music, meeting people, and everything something new.
I was looking for some meaningful activity, not just travel before I become a student again, and I found this opportunity for me. I am so happy to start early year with you everyone.

Forrest Yelverton

This is my second Habitat International Build (Nepal 2010) as Roger’s allure just keeps me coming back for more. I am recently liberated from 21 years as Engineering VP at a major publicly owned corporation and do not miss a single thing about my old life. I spend roughly 300 hours on a plane every year between travel for work and travel for fun or both and this will be my second venture into South America but first time to Bolivia.

My passion is bicycles. I design them, I build them, I ride them and my latest focus is the development of more elegant and efficient ways of getting one and their “stuff” from where they are to where they want to go...on a bike. When not working or riding on a bike, I’m working on the house that my wife and I built in the Colorado mountains near Lyons. We recently installed 8 more solar thermal panels in a continuing effort to be energy independent in anticipation of the coming global economic and financial collapse.

Thanks to our geriatric bird dog my wife of 29 years unfortunately can not attend the Bolivia build (She did attend Nepal) but would have been a valuable addition with her vast quiver of construction skills spanning more than 35 years! But, I’ll be telling the great stories of this build to her and my 21 year old Daughter currently studying in Kenya and Tanzania.

Martine from NYC

I’m a native New Yorker focused on becoming an eternal nomad, one trip at a time. This is my first international habitat trip although I did do a Habitat build in the states back in college for spring break one year. I make an annual pilgrimage to Central America but somehow never made it down to South America, so I am looking forward to this trip. It should be fun getting my hands dirty—and playing with power tools.

I herd cats for a living—OK, not really but it is an apt way to describe my time in the ad world, think modern day Mad Men (and Women). When I’m not working crazy hours I can usually be found watching hours of sports center that is if I’m not out playing touch rugby or Capoeira.

Jeff Moxley, Volunteer

I'm Jeff and this will be my second Habitat trip, but my first time in South America. I'm a FedEx courier, singer and bad at writing bios. I'm currently in school trying to become an EMT. Hopefully, by the time we all meet I will have been an EMT for a few months. I'm bad with computers and all forms of technology, but that shouldn't be an issue in Bolivia. Recently married to Trish and looking forward to our honeymoon in Bolivia. See you all soon.

Trish Moxley, Volunteer

Hi, My name is Tricia Moxley. I grew up both in NJ in the winter and on my grandparent's farm in upstate NY every summer. A bit of a tomboy and a goofball, I firmly believe life is too short and so I try to make the most of any situation. I love helping people, making people laugh, solving puzzles, a good story, music, and trying my hand at photography. I even have a career in solving puzzles in my job as a Project Manager/Technical Consultant at a prescription management company. Jeff and I have built a crooked house, have three cats and one dog and are spending our honeymoon on this build in Bolivia.

Mary Dee

I’m a Born-and-Bred Okie who left Oklahoma after graduating from college, lived in various places in the Midwest, on the East Coast and in Northern California before moving back to Oklahoma in February 2011. I graduated from OSU with a degree in Music Education, taught school for a few years, and then spent 35 years in various arenas of the hospitality industry. I worked as a waitress, bartender, hostess and office manager, then my ex-husband and I purchased a restaurant on the Jersey Shore which we also operated and managed “hands on” while living above “the store.” In the late 90’s, I migrated to California Wine Country – first Sonoma County, then Napa Valley. I worked for various wineries, then for an olive oil producer before “coming home” to Oklahoma. Now I volunteer at an equestrian therapy center, at a community project preparing and serving dinner to those in need once a week and I sing in a church choir. I also enjoy working out, gardening, cooking, antiquing, decorating, travelling and spending time with my dog Molly. My first experience with HFH was in Papua New Guinea, followed by builds in Argentina and China. HFH Bolivia is my fourth project with Global Village, but it won’t be my last!

Valerie Kilfoil

Born and raised on the beautiful east coast of New Brunswick (a "Maritimer" as we are called by those from the other parts of Canada), I have always loved to travel and learn about the world. I have been fortunate that my career in communications has taken me to Turkey for a year, and to Costa Rica for six years. Of course living in these two countries allowed for lots of exploring of nearby countries.

My volunteer work with the Maritime-Guatemala Solidarity Network gave me the opportunity to be part of a carpenter team that built a school in Rabinal, Guatemala several years ago - one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The school kids were literally swinging from the rafters as they came in groups each day to help us build and I am sure managed to break every work safety rule ever written (but there were no accidents). Despite my travels, I am a Maritimer at heart and always return to my roots and my very large Irish/Scottish (my Dad's side) and Acadien French (my Mom's side) family in New Brunswick.

I have a 13 year old son who decided he would rather attend school (go figure) rather than backpack with me for three months in Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. He unfortunately didn't catch my travel bug but he is an amazing young man with a wonderful mind of his own...and he will join me for the Italy and Egypt trip in July.

I am looking forward to starting my nine-month sabatical from my communications job with the Government of New Brunswick by meeting everyone on the team and being part of what I am sure will be an amazing experience with Habitat for Humanity.

Fred Snyder

Hi, everyone. I retired a year ago on my 63rd birthday after working some 40 years in the non-profit sector in a variety of positions including church administrator, symphony musician, camp/conference center director and most recently as director of the Lawrence (University) Academy of Music. I am not one to sit around in a rocking chair so am busy pursuing new outlets of service for my talents, energies and labor. Habitat for Humanity Global Village program is dear to my heart and this trip to Bolivia will be my seventh in less than two years. Prior builds include El Salvador, Costa Rica, Kauai, Guatemala, Honduras and Paraguay (October 2011). I have traveled extensively to 37 countries often on mission ministry trips to such remote places as the Northern Frontier District of Kenya, Burundi (scary place), and my favorite, Cape Town, South Africa. I’ve been married for 39 years to Laura, a wonderful African-American lady who is a 41-year career veteran member of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. We have 3 grown children and a delightful granddaughter, Isabella. I love to cook, am an avid photographer, workout most every day at the local gym, enjoy reading African adventure novels and am a pretty good tinkerer-handyman. I can’t wait to meet everyone in person and bond together as a team working to assist others to provide adequate, safe shelter. With anticipation…Fred (Federico) Snyder
